Trip Overview

This is a compound trekking route crafted carefully by the mountain guides and experts here at Malung treks leading to their base camps of the two of the world’s 3rd highest mountain, Kanchenjunga (8586m) and the 5th highest Makalu (8485m) respectively. Since this is a combination of two different treks, it can be a strenuous, exhausting and demands great amounts of health and physical fitness. That being said, the bright side is it is more rewarding than the usual trek, one can witness the grandeur of the great Himalayan Peaks to a great extent, get to spend more than 40 days in the beautiful hills experiencing and learning a great deal about the traditions, cultures of the people and the geographical topography.

We jump off with a flight to Tumlingtar and a drive to Chichilla. We will then enroute to Makalu Barun National Park, in Solukhumbu and Sankhwasabha district that harbors mountains like Makalu, Chamalang (7319m), Baruntse (7129m) and Mera (6654m). It is one of the most beautiful National Parks in Nepal, from snow filled giant boulders to the lush green forest valley, mountain glaciers, more than 100 species of birds and animals like Red Panda and Snow Leopard to name a few, eventually leading to Makalu Base camp. We retrace our route back to Chichila again and from here the 2nd part of our journey begins.

We will now head towards the easternmost part of Nepal bordering Sikkim (an Indian State) to the east and China to the north. The MilkeDanda Range is a sanctuary for Nepal's National flower, the rhododendron in the eastern side of Nepal and north of Taplejung, the district famous for the plantation of cardamom. The foothills of these mountains get upwards of 3,500 mm of rain per year, three times the amount of annual rainfall as compare to other parts of Nepal. As a result of that, the thick, green lush vegetation. Even at the peak of the winter, the trekking trials are filled with greeneries. The entire trek through the humid forests of the Tamar River basin is an orchid enthusiast's delight.
We, Malung Treks and Expedition are more than happy to help make your stay in Nepal exciting, fun and memorable at the best market price. So, is Nepal in the list of your next holiday trip?
