Known locally as Imja Tse, Island Peak rises to an impressive 6,189 meters and stands proudly in the heart of the Imja Valley. From a distance, it looks like an island floating in a sea of ice, which is how it earned its name. This climb is ideal for beginner mountaineers who are looking to take on a real Himalayan challenge and stand tall at the top of one of Nepal’s most accessible trekking peaks.
Your journey begins on the legendary trails of the Everest region, taking you from Lukla to Namche Bazaar, through lush forests, Sherpa villages, and high mountain passes. Along the way, you’ll visit iconic places like Tengboche Monastery, nestled under the gaze of Ama Dablam, and pass through Pheriche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep—some of the highest settlements on earth.
A major highlight of this adventure is a visit to Everest Base Camp, a dream destination for trekkers around the world. After standing at the foot of the world’s tallest mountain, you’ll head toward the Island Peak Base Camp for your summit attempt.
The climb itself involves glacier travel, ropework, and scrambling—making it a real mountaineering experience. And when you reach the top? You’ll be surrounded by a panorama of Himalayan giants, including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Baruntse.
On the way down, you’ll pass through Pangboche, a remote village known for its ancient monastery, believed to house relics linked to the mythical Yeti. This entire journey is more than just a trek—it's a personal journey into the wild, into yourself, and into the heart of the Himalayas. At Malung Treks & Expedition, we’ve designed this trip to be more than a checklist adventure. It’s an immersive, life-changing experience. Whether you're chasing your first summit or combining it with Everest Base Camp, we’re here to make it unforgettable.
